Our Curriculum

THE DISTINCTIVE CURRICULUM OF THE CATHOLIC SCHOOL

‘In Catholic schools, there is always a bigger picture over and above the individual subjects you study, the different skills you learn. All the work you do is placed in the context of growing in friendship with God, and all that flows from that friendship. So you learn not just to be good students, but good citizens, good people. A good school provides a rounded education for the whole person. And a good Catholic school, over and above this, should help all its students to become saints.’

Pope Benedict XVI 'The Big Assembly', Twickenham, 2010

Religious Education 'Come & See' Termly Overviews

YEAR ONE TO YEAR SIX

Religious Education at St Joseph's Catholic Primary School follows the Diocese of Brentwood programme “Come and See”.  Each year group from Year One to Year Six covers three topics each per term which link to a whole school theme. In additional to this, the children learn about other faiths and religions throughout the year.

At the end of each Come and See topic each class will celebrate Collective Worship which is used as an opportunity for the children to share their learning in Come and See with the rest of the school community.
